Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGAIL LOIS FINKEL
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gail Lois Finkel on December 4, 2023, at the Grace Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Neptune, New Jersey on October 7, 1948, Gail married the love of her life, Alan, in 1969. They were proud to make Winnipeg their home shortly after. Gail had many passions in life expressed through her work as an artist, teacher, architect, and pioneer advocate for universal design. Gail's creativity was articulated in most aspects of her life, including the many pieces of art she created, her tireless work to make the world accessible to everyone, and the many items she made for her grandchildren, whom she adored.
Gail's joy in life was her family. She was a loving wife to Alan (previously deceased), beloved mother of Zoe (Andrew) Finkel and Carly (Carl) DuGuay, and doting nana to Elio and Jayna. We all cherish her memory and mourn her loss.
A small graveside service was held on December 7.
Donations in Gail's memory may be made to the Alan Finkel Memorial Fund

I worked with both Alan and Gail a long time ago. I knew Alan when he ran Child Welfare in North East Winnipeg. He was an exceptional leader, kind and ethical. Gail gave me my first job in teaching when she was at Red River. I never looked back and today, teach graduate students in counseling. They were both such an influence on my career in both child welfare and education. All I can say is thank you to two exceptional people. I spent many evenings with you parents, back in the days when your dad worked at Childrens Home of Winnipeg. They were both wonderful people. Condolences on the death of your mom. - Posted by: Allie Boardman (Friend) on: Dec 09, 2023
