MARGARET BURCHILL

Margaret Burchill, born on July 24, 1934, peacefully left this world on December 8, 2023, at the age of 89. She was a cherished wife, devoted mother, doting grandmother, dear sister, and friend to many.

Mom touched the lives of those around her with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love. She embraced the values of family unity and shared countless moments of joy and laughter with her siblings, children, and grandchildren.

Remembering her with love are her children, Richard (Cynthia), John (Lisa), Charles (Kathy), and Eileen, as well as grandchildren, Mark, Shauna, James, Morgan, Ryan, Susan, Terick, and Ayshia. Also mourning her passing is her sister Catherine Daghestani (Ali), along with cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Mom was born in Winnipeg and raised in North Battleford, SK. After attending teachers' college, she met our father in Meadow Lake, SK. Before settling in Winnipeg, they moved to Victoria, BC, and Leeds, England. Mom had been a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church almost since its inception. She was the church organist for several years and a member of several church committees.

She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Eugene, in 2012, her twin brother Richard, and her granddaughter Richelle in 2018.

In this time of sorrow, let us celebrate Margaret's remarkable life and find solace in the cherished memories we shared with her. May she rest in eternal peace, and may her family and friends find comfort in the enduring love she bestowed upon them.

A small funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on December 16th at Epiphany Lutheran Church. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. In place of flowers, please donate to Siloam Mission or the Mennonite Central Committee.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Thank you for inviting me to attend the memorial for Margaret in the Epiphany Lutheran Church today. Margaret and Gene were longtime friends and neighbours when I lived in Winnipeg, the years that our children were growing up and making their way in the world. The children were our primary concern, through mostly good times, and that sort of shared experience is a special bond. Thank you, Eileen for your heartfelt and touching tribute to your Mom. Everything you said was so vivid and brought back so many memories of the talents ,the interests and the community commitment that characterized her life. Thank you to Richard, John and Charles for the readings and memories. And to Susan for the lovely song. Memories will be sweet and nostalgic, or amusing -, but more importantly are the family values, the respect for others, the interest in the world, the idea of helping others and the appreciation of the beauty of life around us, all shown by Margaret-, those will live on in your family, A wonderful legacy! Condolences to the children, grandchildren and relatives of Margaret and Gene. Lorelei - Posted by: Lorelei Robins (Friend and neighbour) on: Dec 16, 2023
