Dr Wiseman saved my life, I was born with gastroschisis and I was premature. He performed many surgeries and I was in the ICU for the first year of my life. My bowel broke down and my last surgery was 8 hours long with a 5% chance of making it out. He removed 3/4 of my bowel and small intestine. Making it short gut syndrome. Everyone had to try every single item of food on me to make sure I could digest it. They took me quick to get baptized and my last rights. With some divine miracle I lived. My family was there everyday, I had churches praying for me so when I finally got discharged from the hospital I went to the church and everyone (all from what I've heard from all of my family members) He saved my life, if it wasn't for this amazing man I wouldn't be here today. My heart and prayers go out to his family and friends. May he rest in peace. Thank you Dr Wiseman. My sincere condolences. A great team player and a mentor. He always had a smile and a wink. You knew you were in good hands and he delivered. Rest assured that you made other clinicians better and saved our pediatric world. T - Posted by: Todd Mortimer (Friend) on: Dec 16, 2023

A great mentor and surgeon. I worked in a role next to Nathan for 35 years and every time, every day he was a class act. He epitomized professionalism and a bed side manner that put patients and colleagues at ease. Then he delivered with results in the best and worst potential outcomes. Rest in peace sir you made a vast difference. He always had a smile and a wink Todd - Posted by: Todd Mortimer (Co worker) on: Dec 16, 2023

Dr. Wiseman was an incredible doctor and person. He went above and beyond for his patients. My daughter Chrissy was born and at 24 hours old Dr Wiseman took her into surgery at 10 pm till 3 am and saved her life. He and Dr. N McDonald worked vigorously to save her life and then at 12 years old he had to go back in and repair some adhesions. He had a huge heart and Chrissy and the rest of the family cannot thank him enough and his family as everyone had to give up spending time with him so he could save children’s lives. Chrissy is now 41, married with a son and we’re blessed that Dr. Wiseman was there for us. Condolences to his family and our hearts go out to all of you. - Posted by: Pat Mutual (Patients mom) on: Dec 16, 2023

On December 4, 1990 our son Evan was born with many complications. Dr Wiseman was kind, empathetic, and realistic about his chances for survival. Dr Wiseman performed several surgeries and our son is now 32 years old, working, engaged and living life thanks to his “Hero” Dr Wiseman. Thank you Dr Wiseman Rest in Peace. - Posted by: Rob & Sandra Haithwaite (Patients father) on: Dec 16, 2023

I had the great privilege to spend 5 years as Dr. Wiseman's office assistant. We became fast friends and remained so many years. My favorite times working with him were Friday afternoons when we would visit, and he would tell me endless tales. We joked and teased and sometimes scolded each other (well I scolded him), but the mutual respect and friendship are the things I will always cherish. I consider myself fortunate to have known him and call him my friend. Condolences to Mrs. Wiseman and family - he will be truly missed. - Posted by: Angie St Germain (Former Assistant & Friend) on: Dec 15, 2023

I was so sorry to hear of Dr. Wiseman’s passing. He was a very skilled surgeon and teacher and I have fond memories of learning from him during my medical training. I am also deeply grateful for the two lifesaving surgeries he did for my son (also named Nathan), who is thriving. I last saw Dr. Wiseman last year, and it was lovely to talk with him. Heartfelt condolences to his family. - Posted by: Kerry Galenzoski (Former student) on: Dec 15, 2023

This man saved my life! After years of being misdiagnosed he found the problem and fixed it. I was able to have a normal life and carry children thanks to him. I had suffered for many years. I often think of him and took my son later on in my life to meet my biggest hero. He was a great man! Thoughts and prayers to his family. - Posted by: Jennilee Argue (Patient ) on: Dec 15, 2023

He was my esteemed colleague and my favourite surgeon. I first met him as a medical student, then worked with him at Children’s Hospital OR for 31 years. I admired and respected his skill and wisdom. I also enjoyed his gruff sense of humour and the banter we shared in the OR. We liked to tease each other. It was my privilege and pleasure to work with the old loveable curmudgeon. - Posted by: Harley Wong (Former colleague) on: Dec 15, 2023
