Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKALYNN DAWN CRUMP
With the heaviest of hearts, we announce our sweet Kalynn Dawn Crump, age 45, left our world on Sunday, November 26, 2023 after fighting a terminal illness at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto.
Kalynn grew up in Calgary and Winnipeg. Her passion for marketing took her first to Western University, then on to Toronto where her skills, passion and determination led her to build an amazing career. Kalynn’s enthusiasm, focus and drive were evident in everything she undertook. An entrepreneur to her core, Kalynn had no shortage of unique, innovative ideas. Whether it was a startup of her own creation or consulting with international name brands, Kalynn left her mark.
Kalynn founded ReBloom in 2014 with a mission that was reflective of her generous, compassionate heart: redirecting event florals from landfills to be repurposed into bouquets that could bring joy to those often overlooked. Any given weekend you could find Kalynn behind the wheel of a van delivering little jars of floral happiness to seniors homes. ReBloom will go on as Kalynn's legacy.
During the pandemic, Kalynn continuously reached out to her community to support those who were suffering the most. She would hand out Tim's, Subway cards or cash to those in need. At her infamous “park bakes,” Kalynn would prepare large warm meals for the community in the park across from her downtown home, for all to enjoy.
Kalynn loved deeply and that love was returned in spades. She made sure she was in touch with family very regularly, and her friends knew her for going above and beyond with her many little acts of kindness. Her charisma, charm and unencumbered laugh were hard to forget. Those fortunate enough to have known Kalynn will remember how special she made them feel; her generosity and thoughtfulness always lifting others up. Her adoration for many often expressed with the greetings, “hello my love,” or “hey lady,” and always with a long, tight hug.
Kalynn described herself as a flower giver, Bossy McBosserson, fitness fiend, shortboard surfer, Auntie to way more than her four, godmother, Blackberry ambassador, paperback reader, candy eater and Monster Jam fanatic.
We know her as our angel.
She is deeply mourned by the loves of her life, her fiancé Steven Robert Ferrara and step-daughter Metta and their dog Oliver; her father and step-mother Robert and Dawn Crump; mother Lois Duval; brothers, Trafford (Brianna), Sean (Christine) and Garrett Crump and her nieces and nephews; her grandfather Clare Cove and uncles, aunts and cousins and their children who all loved their precious visits from Auntie Kalynn. Predeceased by her cousin Genny, step-father Fred and her beloved dog Frankie, we hope they are all together now.
The family will plan a Celebration of Life in the spring.
Should you wish to do something in Kalynn’s name, a favourite charity she supported was Socks 4 Souls Canada: https://www.socks4soulscanada.com or drop off a bouquet at a senior’s home in your neighbourhood. We know Kalynn would approve.
