ALBAN PREJET

Dad passed away peacefully on December 14th at Foyer Valade at the age of 86. He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Jeannine, in 2005.

He will be dearly missed by his three daughters, Liette, Joanne (Glenn), Lynn; his special friend Léa, and her children, Christian (Tara and girls); and Jocelyne (Steve). Also mourning his passing are his beloved grandchildren, Geneviève (Mathieu), Janique, Éric, Marc, Sara, Sophie, Emma, and Philippe. He will also be remembered by his great-grandchildren, Adrien, Inna, and Émile, along with his many cherished nephews and nieces.

Dad was the son of French immigrants who proudly settled in Notre Dame de Lourdes where Dad was born. He had a happy childhood on the family farm with his six siblings, his lamb, and his dog Spot.

It was in high school that Dad would meet and later marry his sweetheart, Jeannine. During their marriage and the hectic years of raising a young family, Dad was an attentive and loving father while keeping busy with his day job as a skilled electrician with the CNR. Despite those commitments, it was well known that Dad was always ready to lend a helping hand to extended family and friends who needed assistance with electrical and building projects.

In addition to Dad's much valued refuge at the lake, he enjoyed everything that his shared life with Mom brought him: travelling, curling, golfing, gardening, preparing wonderful meals, and entertaining friends and family. No recipient of Mom and Dad's generosity will soon forget the "joie de vivre" that was so much part of their approach to life and to their guests.

Later, following Mom's passing, Dad continued to enjoy travel and the making of new special memories with Léa. Léa's company and affection for Dad brought him great joy, for which he and the entire family are grateful.

Despite the challenges that Dad faced in the last number of months, his life will be remembered by all who knew him as one that was well lived and greatly enjoyed.

Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 23rd at 10:30 a.m. at St-Eugène Parish, 1009 St. Mary's Rd.

  • My Mom, Joanne Snidal met Jeannine when they both attended University and they became fast friends. Al and my Dad Karl also developed a close relationship and the four became lifelong friends. Both our families had three girls, Liette and Joanne were my older sister Andrea’s age, Lynn was my age and my little sister Paula was just a couple of years behind. Growing up I always looked so forward to getting together with the Prejets. I remember one New Year’s Eve the six of us were in fancy dresses and our parents took us to the Winnipeg Inn for dinner followed by a sleepover at our place. There are just so many more wonderful memories: enjoying gatherings at our house; their house; both of our cottages, and just so many more. My sincere condolences to you all, and God bless Al. With Love, Signy (and Grant) Shaw. - Posted by: Signy Shaw (Family friend) on: Dec 22, 2023

  • Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of your father. I met both Alban and Jeannine a number of years ago. Jeannine through work in the St Boniface School Division; Alban at Albert Beach, where we had cottages on the same street. At the cottage, I met their 3 daughters and their families. it was beautiful to see that they had a love of life and more obvious was the joy and pride they had for their children and grandchildren. Take comfort that Alban is at eternal rest and joins his beloved Jeannine. Respectfully, Maria Dunsmore. - Posted by: Maria Dunsmore (Friend) on: Dec 18, 2023

- Posted by: Raymond Poirier (Friend) on: Dec 16, 2023
