JOHN (JACK) WYLIE

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our good friend and golfing buddy, Jack Wylie on December 15, 2023, at the age of 91.

Jack continued to live independently after the passing of his wife and love of his life Suzanne (Sue) in May, 2015. They spent 43 years together before Sue's death to cancer. After retiring, they initially spent their winters in Florida and after that it was at Crescent City in northern California.

Jack was born in Toronto, grew up in Nova Scotia, and spent most of his early career working as a radio technician on the Dew Line. His final working years were as a sales rep with MTS in Manitoba.

Golfing was Jack's main passion throughout his life. The last years of his golfing career were spent at Larters Golf & Country Club, his second home, where he established lifetime friendships. He finally hung up his clubs when he was about 84. He enjoyed watching various sports on his large TV and reading a good book.

Jack will be remembered for his sound mind which he maintained right to the end. He always had stories to tell about his years spent on the Dew Line and the many special people he met while golfing. He was also never shy to express his opinion on matters.

He was blessed with good health up until the last couple of weeks, when his physical health deteriorated. Jack made the decision he did not want to go through the next stages of assisted living. Thankfully God granted his wishes rather quickly as he was only in the Selkirk Hospital for less than four days before he died.

Jack and Sue were both very generous individuals, and the Polar Bear Rescue and Care Fund at Assiniboine Park Zoo will be the main benefactor of their estate.

In accordance with Jack's wishes, he has been cremated, no service will be held, and his ashes will be interred next to Sue's.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I was fortunate to meet Jack and Sue shortly after I joined Larters in 2001. We played many games and were partners in club tournaments. He was a good sport win or lose and a very caring, kind and generous man. He will be sadly missed. Ed. - Posted by: Ed (Friend ) on: Dec 23, 2023
