Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEPHEN JOHN DOOLAN
It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of Stephen Doolan on Friday, December 22, 2023 at the age of 66 years.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Linda of 38 years, daughter Caroline (Dorian), step-sons, Ryan (Shawna) and Shane (Ileana), grandchildren, Avery, Nova, Nathan, Noah and Max, as well as his brother (Paul) and sister (Susan). He is predeceased by his parents, George and Evelyn Doolan.
Stephen was raised near Sudbury, ON and became interested in flying at a young age. He began his career as a bush pilot in Northern Ontario and later moved to Winnipeg, where he met and married his wife, Linda in 1985. In 1987 he was employed as a pilot and later chief pilot for the province of MB’s Life Flight and Fire Suppression programs until they were privatized in 2019. He continued piloting the Water Bomber planes for Air Spray Ltd. from the Gimli, MB base until October 1, 2023.
Stephen is fondly remembered for his musical abilities and he often sang in the Holy Trinity Church choir and played the keyboard for their band. He had exceptional cooking skills and loved to prepare meals for family and friends. We will dearly miss Stephen’s gentle nature, patience and kindness to others.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, January 31 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre at 3030 Notre Dame Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

I was very sorry to see the notice that Stephen had passed away. Although I had met him only a few times at out company functions he seemed to be a nice fellow. I am sure I speak for all of my colleagues who worked with Linda at Smith Carter that we wish her and her family only good memories of Stephen and best wishes at this difficult time. - Posted by: Grant Van Iderstine (former colleague of Linda) on: Jan 08, 2024
