Offer Condolences or MemorySOPHY (SALWA) KAMELL LOUKA
I just want to express thanks. Thank you for sharing and enriching our lives for the 60 years since our engagement on November 4, 1963 and our marriage on January 25, 1966.
Thank you for bringing to the world our wonderful children Hanaa (Stuart Plant, Owen, and Bennett), Sonia (David Ruppel, (Violet (Jordan), and Emily), Haney (Kirsten, Kailyn, and Jakob).
Thank you for your work and involvement in St. George Orthodox Church in the choir and ladies’ auxiliary.
Thank you for being one of the founding members in St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church as council member, in establishing Sunday school, and being one of its leaders until very recently, along with many other activities too numerous to count.
Thank you for your wonderful work ethic at the libraries of the University of Manitoba. As one of your colleagues at the library wrote, “the words ‘I can’t’ are not in her vocabulary!”.
Thank you for the numerous arts and crafts you have enjoyed doing and given to family and friends to adorn their homes.
Thank you for being a wonderful sister to your siblings Nabil (Suzy), Adel (Sonia), and Rafik and a wonderful cousin to extended family members in Egypt, the U.S., and Australia.
Thank you for the lovely time we spent together in different destinations as tourists or getting together with family members and friends.
We shall celebrate you at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church, 1111 Chevrier Blvd., R3T 1Y2.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, a donation may be made to the St. Mark Church Building Fund via direct deposit to adel_takla@hotmail.com.

Dear Amazis, Hanaa, Sonia and Haney, I am so saddened to hear of the passing of Sophy. I do hope she had a peaceful death. We worked together in the university library system for many years and shared a good friendship. We also shared the same birth year. Sophy shared her love of family with me and I feel I know all of you very well even thought we rarely met. I also remember her exquisite toll work pictures. I hope your religious devotion and wonderful memories will help you grieve her passing. Pam Whitehead, friend and colleague. - Posted by: Pamela whitehead (Friend and colleague ) on: Jan 16, 2024

My condolences to the Louka family on the passing of Sophy. Sophy and I met as Beaver and Cub leaders when our sons were little boys. Sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Hilda Muir (friend) on: Jan 10, 2024

Thomas and I are so sorry for your huge loss. We have such fond memories of Sophy, and the whole Louka family. When we first started attending St. George, Sophy was one of the first people to welcome our family with open arms. And when it came to be our family’s turn to provide dainties for the fellowship hour, Sophy is the one that gave us advice and guidance on how to do it well. Sophy was a kind, loving and generous soul, and she will be greatly missed by all of us. May her memory be eternal. - Posted by: Thomas and Neena Thomas (Friends) on: Jan 09, 2024
