ALBERT LEGARE

Albert (Bert) Joseph Emil Legare passed away suddenly at age 63 on November 15, 2023, at Brandon Regional Health Centre. Bert was born on February 9, 1960, in Killarney, MB, to Emil and Angele Legare who farmed near Dunrea.

Bert is survived by his wife, Cheri, and stepchildren Marsha Kindrat, Kayla Kindrat (Justin), and Michael Kindrat (Nikki); grandchildren Jaxen Syrenne and Emily Kindrat; sister Alice (Gordon) Urquhart, brother Paul (Donna) Legare and nephews and nieces. Bert is predeceased by both his parents.

Bert attended Dunrea School until grade eight and graduated from Killarney High School. Helping his dad on the farm from a young age and continuing after his dad was unable to farm anymore, Bert also worked at various companies like Sandview Gravel, Critchlow Trucking, and Agricore. In the fall of 2004, Bert retired from farming and moved to Brandon to seek work. In Brandon, he worked at Shur-Gro, Wally’s Trenching, and McDiarmid Lumber.

In early March 2006, Bert met the love of his life, Cheri Kindrat, and there was an instant connection. They were married on August 8, 2008 and together enjoyed camping at Spruce Woods Provincial Park and traveling to Alberta and BC.

In the Spring of 2011, Bert and Cheri packed up and moved to Kelowna, BC. Bert instantly fell in love with the beautiful scenery and one of his favourite pastimes was sitting down by Okanagan Lake, looking at the Bennett Bridge. Fruit season and fall time provided Bert’s favourite apple, the “Honeycrisp”. While in Kelowna, Bert worked at Lake Country Timber Mart and E. Roko Distributors. In December 2016, Bert and Cheri moved back to Brandon to be closer to the kids.

Highlights for both Bert and Cheri were attending their son’s wedding in August 2017 and welcoming to the world their first grandson, Jaxen, in October 2017 and first granddaughter, Emily, in November 2022.

Bert was employed at Pembina Co-op Building Center in Souris, MB. Bert and Cheri moved to Souris and began their plans of fixing up the house they bought. The deck was the first project followed by work benches, rec room, adding a bedroom, pantry, garden boxes, and fence. Another of Bert’s favourite pastimes was sitting in the backyard, enjoying the sun and watching the kitties, Zippy and Cheetos, play.

Bert will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
