Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPAUL JOSEPH ALBERT ROY
Peacefully after a lengthy illness on January 12, 2024.
He leaves behind sisters Madeleine, Claudette (Michael) Abney, brothers Maurice (Penny) and Robert (Crystal) as well as nieces and nephews Richard, Jessica, Jocelyne, Lucien, Jeff, Jordan, Catie, Cody, Eva and Jay, their spouses and children. Predeceased by parents Gerard and Pauline Roy, sister Helene (Bryce) Rohn. Paul grew up in St. Pierre Jolys, playing hockey and baseball for many years. Paul was a very family-proud man, taking much pride in the accomplishments of those near and dear to him. Great teller of jokes and stories, with an amazing capacity to remember details and dates about family and friends alike. Paul spent many years in Government service, four years with the RCMP then with Canada Border Services until his retirement. Paul had a love of woodworking and construction, the results of which can be found in numerous homes in and around Emerson. Measure twice and cut once was his motto. His other passion was golf, and there were few courses in the area he had not played, his favourites being St. Pierre and Emerson. Of course he knew all the regular players by name and could describe the course layouts precisely.
Special thanks to friend Ken Schwark, and to Emerson Fire Department First Responders for their care and kindness to Paul.
Private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Coutu Funeral Home.

Paul was a longtime resident of Emerson but he maintained close ties to his home town of St. Pierre. I worked with Paul and played hockey and golf with him. He was an excellent golfer, with a deadly short game. His putting was phenomenal. He was a proponent of ladies sports and avidly cheered Brooke Henderson and many relatives and friends. Paul was close to his family and was very proud of their accomplishments. His memory was sharp. He knew so many people and always remembered their names. He was a true gentleman. Our condolences to the family. All those who knew Paul will miss him Ken and Carol Kreitz Emerson - Posted by: Ken Kreitz (Friend) on: Jan 17, 2024

Paul was a people loving personality as a pal, as an ardent competitor especially in golf, and always appreciated meeting new and old friends. He would often save his best little jokes for everyone. He was especially thoughtful and was always able to relate some story with new and old alike. Paul was adept at staying on the fairway to the point of us calling him “BORING “ after hitting his drive and was always very pleased with the recognition fro the others. Paul was a dear friend and we were partners in golf to the end! - Posted by: Jim and Claudette (Friends) on: Jan 13, 2024

Paul was a very proud individual. He was proud of his family and his work. I played hockey as well as golf with him; he was a real competitor. In the dressing room after the game he was the best storyteller/joker there was. My regards to the Roy family. - Posted by: Andre Prefontaine (Friend) on: Jan 13, 2024

Paul was a good friend in the years that I was stationed with the RCMP in St Pierre-Jolys. We had good conversations and I would touch base 4-5 times a year with him. My condolences are extended to his family and friends in this time of loss. - Posted by: Kevin Duckett (Friend ) on: Jan 13, 2024

Sincere condolences to the Roy family. The few times we met Paul he was such a friendly person. Precious souvenir was when at a November 11th ceremony in St-Pierre, he was so nice to our grandson who was laying a wreath for the Young Amputees program giving him encouragement to follow his dream as a Border Agent. This show the generosity of a person. George & Denise. - Posted by: George & Denise Perron (Friend) on: Jan 13, 2024

Paul était un individu que je respectais beaucoup pour sa force de caractère qui lui a permit de surmonter certains grands défis durant sa vie. Paul prenait aussi toujours le temps de saluer et parler avec la multitude de personnes qu’il rencontrait. - Posted by: Omer Fontaine (Friend) on: Jan 13, 2024

I remember Paul growing up in St. Pierre when he worked at the Emerson border crossing. I had bought a Chevy van from him, the "shaggin wagon". Paul played hockey and golf and always had a story to tell. My condolences to his family and friends. - Posted by: Claude Berard (from St. Pierre) on: Jan 13, 2024
