On January 12, 2024, with her family by her side, Liz passed away peacefully in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, a place she loved.
Liz was born in 1934 in Winnipeg, growing up in St. Vital. She graduated from Glenlawn Collegiate where she was voted homecoming queen (twice!). During her youth she was a champion highland dancer and later became a well-respected highland dance judge. During her many years with the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority she made enduring friendships and tirelessly volunteered for charities. As a passionate curler she enjoyed high level success and was very well respected in the Manitoba and Alberta curling communities.
Meeting at a party, Liz met the love of her life, Ed. They married in Winipeg in 1958, and were soon blessed with the birth of son Ward, followed by sons, Craig and Dean. They spent 21 years working and raising their family in Winnipeg where they enjoyed summers with many friends at Grand and Lester Beaches. In 1979 Ed’s promotion brought them to Calgary where they flourished in family, friendships and more curling!
In Calgary, Liz discovered a new passion in golf, at which she quickly excelled. Moving to Priddis in 1989, they became long time members of the Priddis Golf and Country Club. She proudly achieved three holes in one (which is three more than the rest of all of her family combined!). Liz and Ed loved travelling and seeing the world together. They spent winters and good times in Ft. Myers Beach then the last 20 years in Puerto Vallarta, where there was never a shortage of family and friends around.
People were naturally drawn to Liz’s kindness and sense of humour, giving her a wide circle of close friends. Her life was further enriched with the arrival of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ed passed away in 2021, and Liz missed him dearly every single day. She will always be loved and forever missed by sons, Ward, Craig (Catherine) and Dean (Karen); grandchildren, Ryan (Nell), Tyler (Annika), Nathan, Sara, Erin and Holly; great-grandchildren, Elvis, Charlie and Audrey and her nieces and nephews.
We know she is now enjoying a Crown and coke with Ed as he sips his martini. Salud!
We love you.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army.
