LINDA ELIZABETH HRADOWY

(SAMBORYK)

Our mother, Linda Hradowy passed away peacefully in her home in Vancouver on January 2, 2024.

She is survived by her children, Cathy (Jim), Debbie and Michael; her grandchildren, Stephanie, Laura, Kevin and Ian; and her great-granddaughter Eloise Dauriac (Stephanie and Luc Dauriac); her sister Valerie Reilly; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Mom was born in Winnipeg on November 2, 1945. She grew up in the inner city and west end of Winnipeg where she attended school. Linda and our dad (Joe Hradowy) attended high school at Tec Voc, dated and married. Linda and Joe lived, worked, and raised their family in Winnipeg.

Mom lived in Vancouver for the past 40 years. She loved Vancouver, her mountain views from her balcony, enjoying her plants and garden, she loved walking through Stanley Park and English Bay, and enjoyed countless visits by family to BC, where we spent many summers in many locations throughout the province.

During the last eight years, Linda lived with cancer on her own terms, enjoyed her community in Vancouver and made trips to Winnipeg to see her children and finally met Eloise. She was thrilled and enjoyed her last trip in August 2023 and spent almost every day enjoying the company of Eloise in parks and playgrounds and visiting with friends. Linda was very proud of her children and her grandchildren and hoped for happiness and success for all of us.

At Linda's request, cremation has taken place in Vancouver and no service held. Our mom's ashes will be placed in special places throughout BC and Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • We are sorry for your loss. Our condolences to all. Lots of childhood memories as we were neighbors. Linda would to send me letters and cards multiple times a year and tell me about her wonderful journeys and adventures. We spoke a few times on the phone and was nice to chat with her and tell her about family. I'm glad she lived on her own terms and can now sleep peacefully.
