GLADYS DARLING
Gladys Darling of Baldur, MB, passed away peacefully at the Baldur Manor on Monday, January 15th 2024 at the age of 97.
Gladys was born on the family farm near Neelin, Manitoba, the daughter of John and Ellen Mabon, growing up with siblings Lorne, Ivan, Eleanor, and Morley. She attended Huntley and Neelin school and received her teaching permit to teach at Camille school near Holland Manitoba.
In 1950, she married Calvin Darling and started life together on his family farm raising a family of four. She worked at the Baldur Manor for ten years as a health care aide, retiring in 1990.
Gladys and Calvin had many travels in their retirement years and was active in many community organizations.
Gladys was predeceased by her husband Calvin in 2014 and son Dennis in 2020, parents John and Ellen Mabon, brothers Lorne and Ivan, sister Eleanor Dubyts, sisters-in-law Lil and Lynne Mabon, mother and father-in-law Garnet and May Darling as well as brothers-in-law Jack (Lenore) and Bill (Helen).
She is survived by her children Sandra (Bernie) Davidowich, Elizabeth Manning, and Brian Darling and daughters-in-law Rhonda and Kathy Darling; grandchildren Trevor, Ryan (Yolanda), Eric (Oksana), Tim (Denise), Amy (Chris), Kevin (Brittany), Megan (Melissa), Arel (Doug), Ashley (Jake), and Kristy (Albert); great-grandchildren Alyssa, Caitlin, Ryleigh, Theron, Quinn, Sawyer, and Bowen; and by brother Morley Mabon as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a future date in 2024.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the home care team and to the staff at both the transition unit and manor at Baldur Health Centre. Thank you for your excellent care!
