WILLIAM “BILL” MARTENS

March 16, 1937 – January 26, 2024


William (Bill) Martens, age 86, of Steinbach, MB, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on January 26, 2024, at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife Mary and their three sons, Earl, Lorne (Heidi), Cameron, and two daughters Colleen (Ed), and Andrea, as well as three grandchildren, Morgann, Mitchell, and Jordon. He is also survived by two brothers, Pete, Richard (Hilda), and his sister, Jessie.

He was predeceased by his parents, David & Justina, six brothers, one sister, and two children, Gregory and Jeffrey.

Bill was born on March 16, 1937, in Plum Coulee, Manitoba. At a young age, they moved to the Grunthal area, where he spent most of his childhood years. On September 1, 1963, he married the love his life, Mary Enns of Ste. Anne. They enjoyed 60 wonderful years together. Shortly thereafter, they purchased a farm southwest of Steinbach. In the fall of 1976, they sold the farm so he could attend Bible school in Steinbach. In 1980, they started mission work, which took them to Denare Beach, SK., Onanole, MB., Thompson, MB., and Brandon, MB. He later retired back in Steinbach.

The funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach, MB.
