Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • It is with great shock and sadness that we learned of Adolf's passing. We met him and his wife Edeltraud during our trip along the East Coast in 2011. We fondly remember our insightful conversations, especially the one about researching the origins of our similar surnames, and we had forgotten about the Gesell family. You sent us a T-shirt and warm greetings when our first daughter was born. Our second daughter wore it too. I have treasured the coins you gave me in the pub ever since. Unfortunately, we were unable to keep in touch due to the distance. We often talked about the wonderful time we had in Canada and about you. We hope you are doing well wherever you are now. You will always be in our thoughts! With heartfelt remembrance, The Herrgesell Family Schönebeck (Germany) - Posted by: Sebastian Herrgesell (Friend) on: Mar 16, 2026

  • My sincere condolences to Traudel and all his family. I know he was truly loved and hopefully the wonderful memories you have will help you through this sad time. - Posted by: Diana Quilty (Friend) on: Feb 05, 2024

  • We are so sorry to hear about the passing of your husband, father and grandfather. • In 1974, after completing university, a friend and I had a low-budget backpack travel trip to Europe. My mother, Lydia Guse spoke with Mrs. Gesell (Adolph's mother) and it was arranged that we would visit Adolph who was working in Germany. When we arrived, Adolph moved out of his accommodation, gave us his room, took us sightseeing and treated us to a wonderful supper at lovely local restaurant! Such a generous man! Although he hardly knew me, I was family and I believe that was important to him. - Posted by: Lorna Guse (Family) on: Feb 03, 2024
