It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Benoît Lambert at the age of 91. Benoît passed away peacefully late in the evening of February 3, after a sudden decline in his health. His last day was spent with his family by his side expressing their love and gratitude for a life so well-lived.
Benoît serves as an inspiration to his three sons: Marcel (Michelle), Richard (Pam), and Réal (Cathy). Benoît was predeceased by his beloved wife of 57 years, Lilianne (née St-Godard). Together, they enjoyed seeing their family grow to include their grandchildren: Emily, Lauren, Spencer, Graeme, and Violet.
Benoît was predeceased by his sisters: Emilie, Florence, Susanne; and by his brother Philippe. Benoît was born in La Broquerie and as a young man moved to St. Boniface and gave selflessly to his community. He was a proud member of the Chevalier de Colomb – Conseil St-Boniface, volunteered over many years at Le Festival du Voyageur’s Auberge du Violon, and was a devout parishioner of the St. Boniface Cathedral.
Along with cherishing his own siblings, Benoît married into a large family and drew much enjoyment from that large host of brothers and sisters-in-law, and their respective children. His many nieces and nephews will echo the oft-repeated view that mon oncle Ben was kind, gentle, and welcoming. Benoît lived a rich life, finding enrichment in the things that truly matter: family, community, and faith.
We will celebrate that life at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024 at the St. Boniface Cathedral. The funeral mass will be live-streamed at: http://live.cstboniface.ca.
The family expresses their thanks and gratitude for the compassionate care Benoît received these past three years at Centre Taché’s Actionmarguerite (2DE). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Actionmarguerite in his memory.
