SANDRA ROSENBERG

With a sad and heavy heart, we announce the passing of Sandra Jo-Ann Rosenberg. She was taken too soon at the age of 61. She passed at home on Tuesday, January 30, surrounded by her family. Funeral services were held on February 2, 2024, at the Temple Shalom cemetery with Rabbi Allen Finkel officiating. Pallbearers were McKenzie Rosenberg, Reese Feder, Brian Biggar, Barry Biggar, Morgan Ganetsky and Kelly Sankar.

Born in Winnipeg, Sandra made a name for herself in the hospitality industry where she devoted over 40 years of hard work. With her husband of 40 years by her side, they raised their three daughters into successful women. Sandra's world was her family. Through love, laughter, and devotion, Sandra fought a fierce fight against cancer for four years. Always with a smile, humour and a resolution that even her medical staff admired.

Sandra was predeceased by her in-laws, Maurice and Lil Rosenberg, and by her step-father Soli Bhumgara. She was survived by her husband Mitchell, and her children, Madison, Samantha, and McKenzie Rosenberg. She is also survived by her mother May Bhumgara, her brothers, Brian and Barry (Sharon), sister and brother-in-law, Ricki and Alex, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank all those who loved and cared for Sandra through this tough journey. A special thank you to Dr. Stephen Riel, Dr. David Dawe, home care worker Julie Ezra, and her Palliative Care team. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Palliative Care.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • I knew Sandra from our IHG travels and absolutely loved being around her. She was energetic, larger than life, and just so much fun. More than anything, she made me laugh, and that’s what I will always remember. Though life took us in different directions, I never lost touch with her in my heart. I feel incredibly grateful to have known her, and my deepest condolences go out to you, Mitchell. Ian Taylor - Posted by: Ian Tayor (Friend and Colleague) on: Feb 20, 2025

  • I was so sad to learn of Sandra's passing. I was lucky enough to be recruited by Sandra to be her daughter's teacher. It was sheer will and determination, and with love and laughter that Sandra sought out a place for Madi where she could shine. I thank her always for placing her daughter in my care for those wonderful years and I cherished every parent -teacher meeting she showed up for....and she actually showed up for them all! Sandra's dynamic personality made me want to do good for her daughter. It's been many years, but I can still close my eyes and picture her clicking down the school halls in her heels with her younger daughter in tow and her always brilliant smile and boisterous voice as she talked about Madi. Your love will live on. - Posted by: Cindy Neil (her daughters teacher) on: Nov 04, 2024
