Having recently celebrated her 98th birthday with a family gathering, and perhaps more importantly, with a chocolate cake coated with chocolate icing, a fine time was had by all. Fran enjoyed a fine and full life, though she would have loved to have shared the cake with her loving husband Hugh, who left all of us far too soon, on December 21,1983.
Left to celebrate her memory: her son Jim (Lynn), daughter Joanie (Earl), grandchildren, Melanie, Amber (Joel), Kelsey (Pooja), Karleigh (Andy) and great-grandchildren, Anais, Luke and Nyah. Fran kept a special place in her heart for Kelsey and Karleigh, though she refused to believe they are now in their 30s and not still teenagers.
Fran became a talented quilter in her retirement years, gifting fine pieces of her work to family, friends, and to charitable organizations in support of their fundraising efforts. A few of her favourites adorned the walls of her residence at Golden Links Lodge.
Fran and her family appreciated the dedicated and caring staff of Golden Links Lodge and the family extends a most sincere thank you to all those staff, and in particular, the aides and nurses who provided daily care with love and compassion.
As Mom wished, a private family celebration will be held. In lieu of flowers, and if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Recreation Program at Golden Links Lodge, 2280 St. Mary’s Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2N 3Z6.
