Claire Cadieux, age 96, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2024, in Winnipeg, MB. She was born in Letellier, MB on August 5, 1927.
Claire leaves a legacy of love, pride of family and extraordinary kindness with her three children: daughter Carmen (Glenn) – grandsons, Chad (Mireille), Troy (Trish); son Bob (Michèle) – grandchildren, Julie (Kelcey), Aimee (Leigh) and Kerry (Brittany); and son Paul (Bonnie) – grandchildren, Sydney (Austin), Olivia (Liam) and Jack (Coco) and 13 great-grandchildren. Claire is also survived by her sisters, Gisèle, Carmelle, Muriel and Gilberte.
Claire was predeceased by her husband Aime Cadieux, parents, Léa and Mégilde Bouchard, sister Rolande, brother Butch, sisters-in-law, Rolande, Eva, Lucie, Mariette, and many dear and lifelong friends.
Claire was brave, independent, competitive, beautiful and always, always full of life. She was proud of the success and continuation of the family farm in Letellier where she and Aimé built their life and was so pleased to see it thrive through the next two generations. She LOVED “checking the crops” whenever she had the chance.
Claire was most proud of her family whom she loved fiercely, without criticism, judgement or condition. She had a way of making us feel appreciated and valued and she was so proud of every single one of us. She showed us strength in adversity, acceptance in loss and dignity in an aging life. Even in death she has blessed us with a recognition of the value of each other, the extraordinary power of compassion and the strength created through unity of family.
Our family wishes to extend our greatest thanks to the staff at Cathedrale Manor who cared for Claire with love for 14 years. Your care allowed Claire to stay in her home where she felt safe, comfortable, and loved and surrounded by people she considered her family. Rhonda, Jeannette, Angèle, Susan, Nicole and Cheryl, we hope you know how much of a difference you have made in our mom’s life and in ours.
Also, we wish to thank WRHA Palliative Care and Dr. Braedon Debroni whose compassion and dedication helped us give Claire the end-of-life transition we had hoped for her. To the extraordinary staff at Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care, you have no idea the gift of peace and comfort you provide.
Please join us in celebrating Claire on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at E.J. Coutu and Co., 680 Archibald Street. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Claire’s honour to Riverview Health Centre Foundation - Palliative Care Unit 3E.

Such a beautiful tribute to an amazing, inspirational, loving and kind woman. My sincere condolences to the entire Cadieux and Bouchard families. May all the memories and blessings you had with your mom, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt keep you strong at this difficult time. I will always cherish the memories I had with Aunt Claire at family ball and the Christmas and New Years gatherings in Letellier and so much more. Her strength, love, humour and dedication to family inspired me. Aunt Claire was a wonderful role model to many. You will be greatly missed and your legacy will live on with your beautiful family. - Posted by: jacquie woodbeck (Niece) on: Feb 25, 2024

Claire was a pure gem... I would often meet her on her walks around Letellier and would always make a point of stopping so we could chat about life in town and anything else that came to mind. She had a great wit and a warm and inviting smile. My sympathies to the entire family, she will be missed - Posted by: Ivan Lavallee (Family Friend) on: Feb 23, 2024

Although we weren't related, Claire was always 'aunt Claire' to me. When growing up, I remember our families getting along so well together and I, spending time on the farm with Bob and being so well treated by this fine lady. She always had a smile and a warm chuckle every time we met even in her later years at the Cathedral Manor. My sincere condolences to the family.
