Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Carol, Kathy, Lyle and families, I was saddened to hear of Ed’s sudden passing and I am so very sorry for your loss. I grew up on a farm not far from the Douglas farm and Kathy and I became close friends at an early age. We sometimes would go back and forth to one another’s home for visits and sleepovers. Over the years, I always enjoyed seeing Ed and having an interesting chat that usually included some humour. He was kind and caring, and a genuinely nice fellow. May your many happy memories be of comfort now and a treasure in the years ahead. Hugs to all of you. - Posted by: Bev MacDonald (Friend ) on: Apr 02, 2024

  • My dad was raised on a farm, which meant that he was no stranger to hard work and to making the best of things. He valued his intellect greatly, and strove always to learn and to teach. He was humble and quietly competent, letting his work speak for itself. He was honest, thoughtful, affectionate and generous - all qualities that I greatly admire and strive to exhibit in my own dealings with others. He was also forgetful, absent-minded, habitually late and plagued by impatience (which he tamed, with firm self-discipline). These are all traits that I have clearly inherited, like it or not. 😊 Our parents don't have to be "perfect" for us to love them and to value their presence in our lives, any more than WE need to be perfect to be loved and valued, just as we are, by them and by others. My parents taught me that - leading by example. As I raise my own children, I hope to do as well as they did. Doubtless, they would smilingly exhort me to, "Do BETTER than we did. That's why we gave you a head start, after all." 😊💜♾ - Posted by: Brenna Douglas (Daughter (2nd of 3)) on: Mar 29, 2024

  • Carol & Family, We express our deepest condolences in the sudden passing of your dear husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather, Treasure the many memories you hold within your heart. The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh, and only the Lord knows when our time on earth is ending. When the Lord sees we are suffering in pain, discomfort and are very weak, he will take us by the hand and say, "come with me" to my everlasting, heavenly home where there is no pain, no struggles, but only joy, peace and contentment. Cry a while if you must, but Ed would want each of you to continue on in your life's journey in a peaceful, content, determined, successful, and fulfilling way, that is the very best for you. Peace be with each of you. - Posted by: Wilfred & Mildred Betker (Friend) on: Mar 02, 2024
