Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

Hi Mike: Sorry it has taken me so long to write but ever since I received the news, I have had trouble processing the information. We are still left with with no answers as to why you have left us here. Even though we have not been as close as we have been in the past, every time we got together for a beer, our conversation and laughter flowed as if we talked everyday. I really miss your far-out humor and sharing the love we had for Monty Python and music. I miss the times where we could do skit after skit without dropping a line. I'm sure we met in Grade 4 and through the Mighty Mites Morse Place Hockey team. Those were the days! Remember when I came into Hampstead from Sherwood School and immediately kicked your ass in the prescribed reading. You were in the red, blue, green levels of the program while I came in with the higher levels of olive, fuchsia, and magenta. Hilarious. You spoke about that for decades. Too funny. lol. How about the times where we spent hours upon hours playing outdoor ice hockey at Morse Place in our preteens (eating those shitty little pizzas and devouring gummies like there was no tomorrow). You and I were hardcore- extreme cold would not keep us from the rink. Later in our teens and early 20s we continued playing albeit at a different club, a switch to Melrose Community Club. Brings a smile to my face thinking how we complained that no one else was showing up when it was minus 30 with a windchill that was colder than a well-diggers ass. How about all the times when we got "free" drinks at Socials using our "Social Kit", Boy did we get blasted. Me, you, Soost, Johno, Greavo, Heard, Norm and the Squid all good times until we got caught and had to pay the bill at one of the Slobinski Bros. Social on Pemby. FML. LOL. How about all the nights we spent watching live bands (mostly metal) at the Zoo? All the time wondering why we couldn't find girlfriends (with the bars mostly filled with male testosterone fueled metal heads). Guess it took us awhile to figure that one out. lol. Our love of music always trumped the companionship of the female persuasion. F**k, there's so many good memories. In fact I don't recall if we ever had a fight or a major disagreement. I miss you brother. As you know, I went to your Celebration of Life at Larters (where else lol). What did you think of the crowd? You really drew a mixed bag. Quite a cast of characters. Heavy D, the Squid, Norm, McGrath and the list goes on. Charles did a fine job as D-J. spinning the tunes. Mike -why no Tom Waits? At least there was Johnny Cash! All that heavy shit in rotation, Accept, The Priest, Gwar. As I keep telling you, you have to really expand your musical tastes. I know you're really proud of Jackie. She is a Rockstar. She has the most courage out of all of us leading your Celebration. I couldn't keep my shit together. As you know I visited your Mom, Jackie and Marcel at your Mom's place. Your beer tasted great and as you know, you were the topic of discussion and we all shared laughs at your expense. I'm sure we can have a chin wag about our experiences together for the next couple of hours but I have to pull myself away from the paper. I'm sorry I couldn't say "I love you brother" when we were together. I really do regret this. Until our paths across again, keep your stick on the ice, be sure to arm yourself with a banana and a bowl of fresh fruit, and rock-and-roll all night. Love you brother.... - Posted by: George (Jiri) Kroupa (Partner in Crime and long time friend) on: Mar 26, 2024
