DOREEN MARGARET PATTERSON
Doreen passed away peacefully at Evergreen Place Personal Care Home at the age of 91. Doreen was born February 27, 1933 and raised on the family farm near Minto. Her love of music and dancing led her to the Minto dance hall where she met her husband of 61 years, Earl Patterson. Doreen and Earl loved attending dances throughout their married life where many of their life-long friendships were made. They were married in 1955 and lived on their farm near Boissevain for over 50 years where they raised their four children: Greg, Gloria, Gwen and Eric.
Doreen loved hosting family dinners and all were welcome. This time was filled with love, laughter and delicious home cooked meals. She was known for her amazing butter tarts, her cinnamon buns and her pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. She loved growing flowers and time spent in the garden.
Doreen was a social person who loved to volunteer and was an active member of the Boissevain Health Centre Ladies Auxiliary. Doreen was a member of St. Paul’s United church and had cherished friendships with her UCW, Unit 5 ladies. She also loved outings with her Boissevain Crown Jewels friends.
She was a member of the Boissevain School custodial staff and loved getting to know the students and teachers alike. She was all about relationships.
Doreen loved all her grandchildren dearly and cherished her time with each one of them. She was proud of their accomplishments and always took a keen interest in their lives.
Doreen is survived by her children Greg (Lysa), Gloria (Joe), Gwen (Lee) and Eric (Karen); grandchildren: Jeri (Noel), Jill, Hanna (Tom), Emma (Ross), Lena, Megan (Tom), Ryan (Kate), Justin (Maddie), Carter (Laramie), and great-grandchildren: Ethan, Lucas and Margot.
Doreen was predeceased by her husband Earl, parents Fred and Emma and siblings Ellen, Harvey, Helen, Laura, George, Howard and Ken.
A celebration of life took place March 9, 2024 at St. Paul’s United Church with interment at Boissevain Cemetery.
