KIRKWOOD KRISTJAN BURNETT HILTON

April 7, 1971 - March 16, 2024

Beloved son of Viola Bjarnason-Hilton and Lcdr.RCN, Ret’d, Kenneth Hilton, passed away peacefully at HSC after a determined and courageous battle with a lethal infection, cancer, and multiple other life-threatening complications.

Our “Warrior”, as he was called by one doctor, is survived by both

parents, his three siblings and several nieces and nephews: his brother Les Hilton, sister Heather Bourget (Paul), and brother Brad Hilton (Lisa); nieces and nephews Kiera (Sean), Rilee, Emily, Sophie, Garret (Stacy), Mason, Chantale, Nick, Amanda (Andrew), Orion, Brielle, Rachelle (Jason), Joel, Sacha (Gustavo), Manu, Luka.

Kirk took all his education in St. James, attended the University of Manitoba, graduating in criminology, but did not pursue this career.

Kirk’s life journey led him down several interesting paths: real estate, the movie industry, provincial security, retail clothing, hotel employee, courier, vending machine, lawn care and snow removal, and other services.

In many respects, Kirk was a very private person who possessed a quick mind and a dry wit which served him well.

Over the last few years, Kirk worked at Classics where he found his niche. He became part of the “Classics Family”, and we are very grateful to Mario, Tony, and the staff and good friends there who became like family for Kirk.

Celebrations of Kirk’s life will be announced at a later date.

May God hold you in the palm of

His hand.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I met Kirk in our 20's through friends, likely at one of the local pubs in St. James. He was always a nice guy, and had an easy way about him. Kirk didn't say a lot, but the things he said were hilariously on point: very dry, sometimes scathing, always funny. We are very sad to hear of his passing, and send our condolences to his parents, and his family. Rest easy, buddy. Jo and Brad - Posted by: Joanne Laval (friend) on: May 21, 2024

  • Although I only met Kirk twice, I felt I knew him through my dear friend Viola, his mother. My heart is with you, dear Vi. - Posted by: Judy Richardson (friend of mother) on: Apr 20, 2024

  • I was very saddened to hear of Kirk's passing last week. I got to know Kirk at Silver Heights Collegiate back in the 80's. Those were such memorable/great years for me and Kirk was a part of many of those great times. Whether it be having some classmates over for some laughs or just hanging out before a big concert...Kirk possessed a very positive attitude and was up for anything. My deepest condolences go out to his friends and family. - Posted by: Art Penning (Friend) on: Apr 13, 2024

  • I didn't know Kirk but I was a friend and co-worker of his father. Jeannette and I extend our sincere condolences to Ken and his family. - Posted by: Bill Cairns (family friend) on: Apr 13, 2024
