It is with heavy hearts and much love that we announce the passing of Glenn Eric Norton. He passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2024, at the age of 70.

He is survived by his wife Ilham Norton, his son Jared (Jill) Norton, stepdaughter Sara Dell, stepson Michael Dell, grandson Jaeden, granddaughter Yasmaine, brothers: Ken (Brenda) Norton, Lloyd (Sue-Ann) Norton, sisters: Muriel (Michael) Saign, Kathy (Chuck) Miklovich, Cheryl Barnecki, niece: Sharon Miklovich, nephews: Aric Saign, Thomas and Richard Barnecki, Jason Miklovich, Matthew, Nathan, Clinton, Johnny and Jesse Norton.

Glenn was predeceased by his mother Lilley (Lillian) Norton (2015), father Edward Clinton Norton (1983), as well as numerous aunts, uncles, friends and relatives.

He was especially close to the Abas family; he grew up with his Abas family cousins, spent much fun and mischievous times at the farm with them. He also had a special place in his heart for the Abraham and Omer families.

Glenn was a very talented, successful, loving and generous man. A native of Winnipeg, Glenn worked for Beaver Lumber for over 20 years that included VP positions. In 1997, he purchased the Home Hardware Building Centre in Fort Saskatchewan with his partner Gord Sarvis and served on the Home Hardware Board of Directors for five years. His was a generous supporter of numerous community organizations. He participated and supported the Retriever Game, running dogs in trials for many years. Some quotes that have been made about Glenn include, ‘“larger than life” character’ and “Glenn may be a character, but he possesses a lot of it as well”. He is dearly loved and will be sadly missed by many.

Special thanks and love are extended to the Home Hardware Family for their continued support and many acts of kindness. We are also grateful to all our friends and family for their support, which has carried us through this difficult time.
