Peacefully on April 23, 2024 with family by her side, Marie-Laure passed away at the age of 101 years, three months and one day at the Repos Jolys in St. Pierre. She has rejoined her husband of 61 years, Jean-Louis who predeceased her in 2004.
Marie-Laure will be lovingly remembered by her children: Gisele (Dave), George (Denise), Colette, Armelle, Luc (Christine), Henri and Joanne (Gary). She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, as well as two sisters, Rose and Alice and two brothers, Romeo and Yvon.
Mom was predeceased by grandson Alan (2005), great-grandson Devon (2006), son-in-law Wayne (2019), six brothers and three sisters.
Marie-Laure was the eldest daughter of Edmond and Laura (Dionne) Delorme. Born, raised, educated, married and raised a family of seven in St. Joseph. It broke Mom and Dad’s hearts when the time came to leave the house they built to move to the Chalet Malouin, St. Malo in 2003.
Mom is the co-founder of the St. Joseph Museum, having its early beginnings back in 1952. She was also co-recipient of “Le Prix Riel” with her husband in the Heritage category honouring their outstanding involvement in their community.
But the most important role to her was wife, mother and homemaker. She instilled in her children the importance of family, encouraging as many reunions as possible, her favourite being Christmas.
Mom was also kept very busy as a very talented seamstress for the town and surrounding area, providing alterations, hemming and sewing everything from coats, dresses, grad and bridesmaids gowns. She very much enjoyed her gardening, playing music for the St. Joseph Catholic Church, camping and travelling. Mom will forever be in our hearts.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. with Rosary and Eulogy beginning at 10:00 a.m. Private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Musee St. Joseph Museum Inc., P.O. Box 34, St. Joseph, MB. R0G 2C0.
