EDWARD STEPHEN SENKIW

July 7, 1936 - November 3, 2023

Lovingly remembered by his brother Paul, his nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins and many friends.

Edward was born in Red Lake, Ontario and at an early age fell in love with cowboys. Growing up in Sarto, he attended school in Steinbach and later in Winnipeg. After many fruitful occupations, he obtained an A & W franchise which he ran successfully in Brandon for more than two decades until his retirement. In his treasured home in Woodhaven, he pursued his passion for collectibles, and enjoyed his many friendships. He loved classic cars and always enjoyed a road trip, travelling to Arizona to spend time with brother Paul and to Vancouver Island.

A lifelong lover of all animals, his greatest joy in his later years were his Labrador Retrievers, most recently Coco II. Above all, he loved life, and was always well informed and curious about this amazing world. He had a generous heart, and was good company wherever he went.

Edward faced his last illness with remarkable courage and dignity, remaining cheerful and optimistic until the very end. Just days before he was admitted to the hospital he remarked, "I am still enjoying my life." He used his remaining energy to crack jokes and express his love for his family.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Shirley and only son Gregory; his mother Mary and father John; brother Maurice; his only sister Rosemarie; and his nephew Richard.

His surviving family invites friends and relatives to remember and celebrate Edward at the Woodhaven Community Center, 200 Glendale Blvd. in Winnipeg on Friday, May 31st at 12:00 noon.
