HANS MUELLER

On May 24, 2024, as was his greatest wish, in the home he built and was so proud of, with his wife by his side, Hans Mueller passed peacefully from this world.

Left to cherish Hans’ memory are his wife of 55 years, Moira, his sons, John (Kim), Richard, Dean and daughter Eileen. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Tyler (Jasmine), Sophie and Kaylee, as well as family and friends here in Canada and in Germany and Scotland.

He was predeceased by his wife Lorraine and his grandson Dillon.

Hans immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1954 and was so proud to be Canadian. He did not speak or understand a word of English when he got here, but in true Hans fashion, he worked hard and used his brains, his imagination and his wits and quickly made a wonderful life for himself and his family to come.

Dad had many adventures in his life, and we loved to hear his stories. He was a plumber by trade, but in reality, was a true jack of all trades and could figure out how to fix or build pretty much anything and he spent many happy hours doing just that - helping his children fix up cars and houses and coming to the rescue for all of us more times than we can count. He was generous with his time and shared his talents and know-how with others whenever he was needed.

He went to work for Frank E. Simmons Ltd. Mechanical Contractors, becoming a partner in 1977, until his retirement.

After his retirement, he set his sights on fixing up the family cottage in Lac du Bonnet. He and Moira spent many wonderful summers living out at the cottage, hosting family and friends, working on the endless projects that he loved and more recently, relaxing and napping in his favourite spots in their wonderful cozy place.

He was a man with integrity and high standards, and we are thankful that he passed them on to us. He loved his family beyond measure, and we will miss him every day.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Boniface Hospital, 6th floor, Unit E and Palliative program staff for the compassion and care given to Dad during his recent stay.

A celebration of Dad's life will take place on Thursday, June 6 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Timothy Catholic Church, with Father Brian Trueman officiating. A gathering of friends will take place after the service in the church hall. A private interment will take place.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Hans’ name, to a charity of your choice.
