It is with profound sadness that the families of Léo Paul Savaria and Colette Parent-Savaria announce the passing of their beloved father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather on May 18th, 2024 at Sturgeon Community Hospital, St Albert, AB.
He is survived by his wife Colette and predeceased by his wife Marcelle in 2006. He will be dearly missed by his children, Robert (Allison), Yves (Maria), Micheline (Don), Françoise (Tony), André (Lucille); grandchildren, Kyle, Katherine (Chad), Paul (Hannah), Elizabeth (Jeff), Geneviève (Ben), Phillip (Natali), Natalie (Jared) Stéphane (Karoline); and great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Robyn, Kale, Jasper, Audrey and Leander. Also close in thought are his step- children, Suzanne (Len), Lorraine (James) and Pierre; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marcelle in 2006; his step-son, Marc; and his son-in-law, Don.
Léo Paul lived his life defined by faith, family and service to others as demonstrated by the great number of charities he supported, the religious projects he initiated, his active participation in the St. Joachim church community, and the love for his family.
He was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He also enjoyed a long and fulfilling professional career as a cost estimator in both private and public sectors.
The Savaria family is especially indebted to Colette who has cared for and supported Léo Paul throughout his golden years, both in sickness and in health and for this we are eternally grateful.
The families would like to sincerely thank the Sturgeon Community Hospital Emergency and Unit 17 and 15 medical staff for their compassion, commitment and excellent care of Léo Paul.
A Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Léo Paul will be held on Thursday, June 20th, at 2:00 PM in St. Joachim Catholic Church, 9928 - 110 Street NW, Edmonton.
A private family service for the inurnment of the cremated remains will take place August 21, 2024 at St. Boniface Cemetery in Manitoba.

Our hearts are heavy to hear the news of Leo's passing. Yet we also know Leo is at rest and peace. He lived a full life and was a remarkable person; we had the honour of getting to know him and saw his joy when Mikel excelled on the court! We cherish the special moments and wonderful adventures with him as part of our Winnipeg Wizards basketball famille! We were very blessed to know him!! Sending our love and prayers for comfort during this time xo God's blessing upon you.
