Deo Chandra Prasad passed away peacefully at the I.H Asper Institute, at St. Boniface Hospital, at 5:26 a.m. on May 17, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.
Deo Chandra Prasad was born on February 5, 1946, in Laheriasarai, Bihar, India. He was the second child of Tapeswar Prasad and Lalita Devi, and is survived by his wife of 34 years, Nivedita Prasad, his three children, Tripti Prasad (Luke), Deepak Prasad, Neel Prasad, his siblings, Rashmi Shrivastava (Anjani), Navin Chandra Prasad (Nirmala), Swakcham Kumar (Madhu), Deepam Bharti (Poonam), sisters-in-law, Manju and Preeti, and many nieces and nephews.
Deo immigrated to Manitoba in the 1970s, in his early 20s, to study at the University of Manitoba. He earned both Bachelors and Masters degrees in Agricultural Engineering. Deo was registered as a professional engineer. He was a membership holder of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and enjoyed watching dance. He helped and was important in the inception of the Hindu Society of Manitoba. He taught Hindi language classes to the youth and adults of the community. He enjoyed meditating, weeding our front garden and eating sweets.
