ARNOLD EDGAR BROWN

With deep sadness, Arnold’s family announces that he passed away peacefully at Tuxedo Villa Extendicare on June 14, 2024, at the age of 96.

Left to remember him are his three children, Judy, Linda (Bruce) and Dan (Denice), as well as his grandchildren, Ian (Anne), Kyle (Mel), Joanna (Daniel), Jacob and Madison, and great-grandchildren, Miriam, Nathan, Samuel, Nico, Jack and Nora.

Arnold was born in Headingley, Manitoba, and was predeceased by his beloved wife of 71 years, Margaret, as well as by his parents, Harry and Della Brown, his brother Stewart, and his sisters, Ethel (Scott) and Margaret (Ross).

When Arnold was 16 years old, he started working for CN Rail, and had a successful career in the Signals department. Forty-two years later, after retiring from CN, he pursued his hobbies of woodworking, photography, cross-country skiing and gardening. He always enjoyed travelling and went on numerous trips to visit family and friends around the country, as well as several Caribbean cruises. He loved the family cottage at Lee River, where he happily spent long days outdoors, clearing, building, boating and swimming, and where he never tired of the sunset view over the water.

Arnold will be remembered by all who knew him for his ready smile and laughter. He kept in touch with many lifelong friends over the years, people from his boyhood in Headingley, from his days at CN Rail and from his married life with Margaret. There were regular breakfast and lunch “meetings”, as well as parties and cottage visits. He loved the family get-togethers on holidays and birthdays and enjoyed seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren taking part in their various activities. In later years when he couldn’t visit in person, he took great delight in hearing about the happenings in his young great-grandchildren’s lives.

Arnold was a loving husband, a great father and staunch friend. We will all miss him deeply.

The family wishes to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff of Tuxedo Villa Extendicare, Station 2 for their care and compassion for Arnold while he was there.

A private interment ceremony will take place at a later date.
