DENNELL BERNARD SWAMPY

April 6, 1978 - June 20, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dennell Bernard Swampy at the young age of 46.
Dennell leaves to mourn his mother Beverly Swampy, his father Bernard McKenzie, sister Clarise (Algirdas), brother Bailey (Phylisha), and his children, Annabelle, Greyson, Kyla and Hillary. He was predeceased by his Mishoom Edgar Swampy, Grandpa Doug McKenzie, Uncle Wally, Auntie Cecile, Auntie Lillian, Uncle Ken, and his cousin Joshua.
Dennell was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Growing up in his early years Dennell was always with his cousins who were like his brothers and sisters. His love for them was very special to him, with daily phone calls and his early morning visits for coffee. He loved them so much. He also loved his Kookum Agnes she was very special to him, and he had so much respect for her and everyone in the family. He had very a close relationship with his Aunties, Yvonne, Press (John), Debbie (Derrick), Evelyn (Ross), Marion (Danny), Anne and Rita, they were like his second mom, as well as his uncles, Dennis (Sandra), Howard (Charlene), Doug, Peter (Cindy), Dwayne, Ron (aka “Ole Mo”) and Barry (Wanda). He was an amazing uncle to Tessa, Jden, Princeton, Alyla and Hailey, Phoenix, Jozze and Kingston, Bishop and Aliyah. His relationships that he had with family were unique to the person. He graduated from Kildonan East Collegiate and then went on to work at Star Lumber. He loved working and was always busy with friends and family. He loved his family so much. He then later went to his home community of Sagkeeng to work at his parents’ store for many years. He then left the store and worked with his brother Bailey at Swampy Custom Homes. He fully enjoyed this new venture with his brother, he had made many friends working in Northern Manitoba. He had many interests and hobbies that always kept him busy. He enjoyed helping others out and was that guy that would show up if asked. He was always punctual and reliable.
He had many accomplishments that he was so proud of which included how he auditioned for a part in a National Film Board drama series Daughters of the Country, “Mistress Madeline” at the age of six. He also had the opportunity to have a part in a play alongside Tom Jackson. His favourite movies were Back to the Future and Tremors, that he would watch endlessly with his sister Clarise at his dads. He had memories at dad’s house and his karaoke out at Shallow Lake, it wasn’t karaoke if Dennell didn’t have the mic. His laugh was contagious, and he was always in a good mood and loved to joke around. He was always with family and friends. He was that guy to offer help. He will be missed tremendously; family gatherings won’t be the same without Dennell he was always putting a smile on everyone’s faces sharing stories and laughing.
Dennell loved his children, Annabelle, Greyson, Kyla and Hillary, and his spouse Kathy. He would always talk about them and that made him light up, he was such a proud father. He would tell stories about them, and he would always laugh. He will miss being a part of their lives deeply.

  • Dennel will be sadly missed by his family members and all who knew him. We were raised together and I always thought of him as my little Brother who I protected growing up to adulthood. I know you will be holding my grandson Harlan in Heaven. It's hard to deal with the fact you will forever be gone to the Spirit World without saying A 'Goodbye'. You have done an amazing Job with your life and the accomplishments. You have left the family and friends behind to go to a much Better place I will see you again one day my Cousin, little Brother, friend. ♥️🩷♥️ - Posted by: Phoebe (Cousin) on: Jun 29, 2024
