JAMES ROBERT ANDERSON


James (Jim) Robert Anderson passed away tragically on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, aged 77 years old in Rockdale, Texas.

Jim is survived by his wife Faith, sons, Jason Anderson, Martin Meinders (Helena) and daughter Crystal Anderson (Brett McLaren). Surviving are grandchildren, Sierra Anderson, Kaylee Anderson, Kealan McLaren, Hazel McLaren, Ennya McLaren, Hannah Meinders, Leanna Meinders, Katrina Meinders, Ryan Meinders and Natalia Meinders. Jim is also survived by brother Ralph Bruce Anderson. He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph Bruce Anderson and Hazel Doris Anderson (nee Winder), sister Brucille Griffiths and daughter Janice Carolyn Anderson

Jim was born on April 17, 1946, in St. Boniface, Manitoba. He lived all of his unmarried life at the family home on Hillcrest Street in Norwood. He married Faith Elaine Zorisky on August 10, 1968. They lived most of their married life in Fort Richmond. He grew up in Norwood and graduated from Nelson McIntyre High School. He studied to be a Registered Industrial Accountant and later the designation became a Certified Professional Accountant. Using his accounting background, he served as Manager for his children's ringette and hockey teams. Those were busy times driving his children to ringette, hockey and baseball games and attending the many school activities. He worked for Bird Construction and later became self-employed for the remainder of his career. At an early age, his family purchased a cottage at Brereton Lake in the Whiteshell Provincial Park. Many happy memories were made at the cottage as his children spent the entire summers there. He spent many days taking the children skiing and tubing, often till late in the evening. He never complained and he enjoyed teaching his children to ski. He loved spending time at the cottage where he was happy puttering in the garden, and his newly built garage, and enjoyed maintaining the cottage. He loved his children very much and truly enjoyed his grandchildren. He was active in Richmond Kings Community Centre working for many years helping to run the bingo. He took up golfing in his later years and enjoyed playing at golf courses in Manitoba, BC, and Texas. He joined the PAL Bike Club and rode 25 km in one outing. Jim and Faith enjoyed the winter months in their retirement for several years in Harlingen, Texas. There he joined the Bike and Golf Clubs enjoying the many outings.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life and funeral liturgy will be held on July 5, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Mary, Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive, Winnipeg, MB with Fr. Jean Baptiste Nguyen officiating. Following a reception a private interment will take place.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of James Anderson may be made to the Janice Anderson Memorial Fund at the University of Manitoba the Department of Private Funding, 179 Continuing Education, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB R3T 2N2.
