ALAN SCOTT MCKENZIE

August 28, 1976 - July 7, 2024

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Alan Scott McKenzie on July 7, 2024, at the too young age of 47.

He was predeceased by his parents, Agnes and Bryan McKenzie.

Keeping his memory alive are his children, Ava and Alexander, former spouse Sarah McKenzie, his sister and brother-in-law Christina and Donavin Discher and nephews, James (Jesslyn) and Anthony (Amanda), great-nephew and nieces, Jacob, Ellie and Emersyn and lifetime best friends, Bryan and Craig and big brother Brad Enns, as well as his cousins in Scotland, Jenny and Lynne.

Alan was born in Canada but moved to Scotland at the young age of two. He grew up there until the family immigrated back to Canada in 1984. But his heart and soul always remained there. Anyone who knew Alan was well aware of this. So much so that to be cheeky he wore a shirt with the declaration of Arbroath to meet Sarah’s English family for the first time.

The most important thing in Alan’s life was his children. He lived for bike rides with them, watching Alex play hockey, watching Ava in her acting endeavours and just being with them. They were his world.

Another of Alan’s loves was the band Rush and a highlight of his life was meeting Geddy Lee. His running joke was calling his sister on her birthday (she shared the same birthday as Geddy) and asking her if she knew what day it was to which she would reply “it’s Geddy Lee’s birthday.”

Alan worked for National Energy Equipment as a salesman and loved his job dearly. He loved all of his customers and co-workers and was truly at home there. A huge thank you goes out to them from his family for their compassion and caring of Alan throughout his disease progression.

May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Society of Manitoba or Brummit Feasby House, ALS Society of Manitoba.

Memorial service to take place on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I met Al through work, where he would come into our office just about every week for the past 6-8 years. Every week he would come in with coffee for everyone with a smile on his face where we would chat for quite some time about all sorts of things. He will be missed dearly by everyone! My condolences go out to all of his family and friends...RIP Al - Posted by: Ray Tellier (Friend) on: Jul 15, 2024

  • This was my father. I'm his oldest daughter. RIP DAD! - Posted by: Chiara (Daughter) on: Jul 13, 2024
