WAYNE WORTH

It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Wayne Worth on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.

He is mourned by his wife and partner, Pat Goss; mum, Gail Worth; sons Matt, Andrew (Nikka), and daughter Malorie (Jeremy); step children: Eli Penner (Sylvie), and LP Penner (Dale); siblings: Amanda Worth, Fenella (Cam) McLaren; Francis (Kristin) Worth; Kathleen (Blair) Atkinson. He was predeceased by his father, Rod Worth.

Wayne was born in Scunthorpe, England then emigrated to Canada in 1969 when he was 11 years old.

After high school he began working at Wascan, where he met Rick Funk and the guys with whom he had a close relationship throughout the years. He later became a diesel mechanic and in 1983 he began work at Winnipeg Transit, retiring in 2019.

Wayne and Pat married in 2001. They were partners in everything from tackling big projects, parenting, enjoying their cottage and traveling, to snowmobiling. Wayne always put his family first and especially enjoyed the time with his grandchildren, Zephyr and Onyx Worth and Eve Kehler.

His curiosity and kind demeanour stood out as signature traits and his interest in connecting with people helped define his caring and welcoming personality.

Everyone who knew him knew that Wayne could fix almost anything… from old cars to fridges and everything in between. He always graciously helped others when needed.

It’s extremely hard to quantify how much Wayne will be missed. He was the calm in the storm; the guy who stepped up to help; and the best husband, dad, granddad, son, brother, and friend one could imagine.

Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 10:30 a.m. at The United Church in Meadowood, 1111 Dakota St., Winnipeg.

  • Gail, Amanda & Fenella I am so sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing. I have many good memories of days gone by when Wayne and our old group of friends from Fort Rouge that went to school together hung out, rode our dirt bikes, days spent at his family cottage at Lake shore Heights and when Wayne would come to my families cottage at Lester beach, lots of good times. As year went by & contact was lost, but memories will never fade. Again my deepest condolences to you all. RIP Wayne. • Pat and Family; Loraine and I are so deeply saddened by this shocking news! We are so sorry for you Pat and all of Wayne's family. We are unavailable for the upcoming service, as we are in BC. We will certainly miss Wayne's everyday kindness, his everyday willingness to help others and Wayne's genuine and honest interest in so many things. We so appreciated, all of Wayne's loyal help around the United Church in Meadowood, as he was smart and acted humbly to solve some of our property maintenance issues, or offer good advice. We could often visit on many subjects, at our Norwood Lawn Bowling days. Everyone who knows Wayne, will share similar stories, Pat. Heaven is greeting one great guy, (way too soon), Wayne Worth. God Bless You and Comfort You; Doug and Loraine Purdey. - Posted by: Douglas Purdey (Friend) on: Jul 20, 2024
