Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDREW BROCK THORVALDSON
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Drew Brock Thorvaldson on July 17, 2024, at the age of 62.
Drew will be forever missed and remembered by his wife Lori, and children, Brittany (Brett) and Connor (Lauréanne).
He was a fighter and a jokester, but above all else, a loving and caring husband and father. He proved to us time and time again how important we all were to him and that he would do anything for his family. Drew will also be sorely missed by his four brothers Paul (Xandralee), Grant (Cindy), Mark (Deborah) and Derek (Deb) and many loving nieces and nephews. There are also countless friends that Drew considered family who know what an amazing character he was.
Drew was born in Winnipeg on May 15, 1962 to Eileen Evelyn and Thorberger "Bobby" Thorvaldson and often shared fond memories of growing up on Raglan Road and spending his summers at Victoria Beach. Drew also bragged about being a member of the Winnipeg Boys choir and shared stories of clippings that his mom saved from the newspaper.
In his early years, Drew was known as a talented athlete in hockey, soccer and golf, which later fueled him to show off his skills to the younger generations as he guided us on how to play. He taught so many of us how to skate, how to swing a club, or how to simply love a game. His passion for sports poured into his love for others and left a lasting impression on so many who loved him back.
Drew was a man of many talents...
He was an artist and a writer, surprising us with his sketches, poetry, letters, and songs.
He was a performer, dancing to his favorite songs or making us giggle with his accents and characters.
He was a chef, who loved to make new, exciting dishes for those around him.
He was a traveler, who loved lounging on the beach and diving into the ocean, and who swam with the most unique "merman" stroke.
He was a surfer...of the internet...who loved to read reviews, and learn as much as he could about what "they" say about his latest topic of interest.
He was a craftsman, who always took pride in his work, opting to do things the right way, even if that meant researching for hours on how to do so. Whether it was hand-building furniture for his family, or customizing his golf clubs or his convertible, he always managed to turn his knowledge into creation.
He organized countless projects on decks, roofs, garages, and pools, which more often than not, involved getting a team of family and friends to help, in exchange for average pizza, good beer, and great times.
Anyone who knew Drew would be captivated by his contagious laughter and quick wit. There are so many more stories to be shared about this man we love, and we would love to hear your memories of him. Please join us for a celebration of his life on August 10, 2024 at our home in Winnipeg, Manitoba anytime after 2:04 p.m. There will be food and drinks aplenty and all who knew him are welcome.
