KIMBERLY ANN MARTENS

(nee BURDZ)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kim on August 13, 2024, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Kim will be missed by her husband of 44 years, Willy, daughters Ashley Kreml (Greg), Melissa Woodworth (Mike), and her cherished grandchildren Tenley, Branson, and Hunter. She was predeceased by her dad (Walter Burdz Sr) and her father-in-law (Louis Martens). Kim is survived by her mom (Josephine Burdz), her mother-in-law (Wilhelmina Martens), her brother Walter Burdz (Susanne), her brothers-in-law Chris Martens (Deborah) and John Martens (Kara), and many other beloved family and friends.

Kim was a caring person, with a warm and welcoming heart for everyone she met. She enjoyed shopping, spending time with family and friends, and taking annual trips to Mexico.

Our family would like to express thanks to Dr. Paul and his team at CancerCare Manitoba, and the doctors and staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their care and comfort.

A memorial service will be held on August 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel at 1020 Main St.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.

Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • Dear Willy and family, I still cannot believe Kim was taken so young. Being close in age I have so many wonderful memories of times spent together. As kids we had so much fun at our grandma's house, spinning each other on the barber's chair until we couldn't stand up. Shopping with Kim was always a highlight, a passion we shared. She was so proud of each of you - she cherished the 44 years of marriage to the love of her life. Lunch dates were spent looking at pictures of Ashley & Melissa and her beautiful grandchildren, I am missing those times. After such a courageous battle I know she is at peace in heaven. She was one of a kind. - Posted by: Debbie Schmidt (Kim's cousin) on: Aug 29, 2024
