LOUIS ALBERT BOURGEOIS

On August 2, 2024, Louis Albert Bourgeois, 60, of Virden, MB passed away peacefully while camping.

His late canine companions Badette and Maxwell were amongst the dearest to him. We hope they are all enjoying a long, beautiful car ride together now.

Louis was born on January 17, 1964, to Charles and Rose Bourgeois in Winnipeg, MB and was raised in Transcona, MB. The youngest of nine children, he is survived by his sister Noella (Raymond), and three brothers John, Paul (Maggie) and Amie. Predeceased by two sisters Jeanne and Jeanette, and two brothers Roger and Ray. He had nineteen nieces and nephews and countless great nieces and nephews.

In 1982, he graduated from Kildonan East Collegiate in the Culinary Arts Program. He owned and operated several businesses in Virden and volunteered as a local fire fighter. He had a passion for cooking which showed through his restaurants and his passion for cars that led him to open Virden Taxi. In his later years he gained introspect and decided to work for the Junior High School in Virden where he was adored by the students.

He loved antiques and old cars. And enjoyed carving and sketching for a pastime. He was always first to play a good prank or a silly joke while hiding a mischievous smile.

Louis (Uncle Lou) will forever be remembered in the hearts of his friends and family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 6, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., at 500 Widlake Street, Winnipeg, MB.

Memorial donations may be made to Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue In Memory of Louis Bourgeois.

  • I would like to extend my condolences on hearing of Louis. He was my first boss, back when he managed Chicken Chef, in Virden. I'll always remember him as a giving person, his love of antiques and older cars, his laughter and the wisdom he passed onto me throughout the years. I hope he is up in heaven, cruising around in the 64 Mercury with his dogs, enjoying the ride. Rest easy my friend, Dave Rocan Devon, Alberta - Posted by: David Rocan (Friend) on: Sep 06, 2024

  • I met Louis when he worked with my Son, Ryan Scanlan, at the Central Hotel. He was always very cheerful and pulling pranks and we all enjoyed his stories of the daily happenings at work that my son shared with us. There was always laughter and smiles and cheesy grins from around the corner so you never knew what he was doing to your food or thinking! Always fun loving and kind! One of the most wonderful people I had ever met! Was so sorry to hear of his passing. Was looking forward to spending more time together in the coming days. We were camping at the same campground and were shocked to hear he had passed. I will miss my friend forever! - Posted by: Janet Sutherland-George (Friend) on: Aug 25, 2024
