John Norman Ewanek, 80, of Canmore, AB, passed away on August 24, 2024, as the result of heart complications
John was born on July 28, 1944, to John and Annie Ewanek in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He graduated from Gordon Bell High School and went on to complete a master’s degree in Soil Science from the University of Manitoba. He had a fulfilling career in agriculture for 32 years.
In 1967, John married Myrna Olson and they were blessed with three children: John Allen (Jay), Arlin and Mary-Anne. He is survived by his wife, children and six grandchildren.
John retired in 2001 and later in his retirement moved to Canmore where he enjoyed skiing and hiking.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Parish in Banff on Thursday, August 29, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to make a donation, in John’s memory, to the Foothills Medical Centre, 1403 - 29 St. N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 2T9, dedicated to the Cardiac Care Unit.

My first memory of John was in our Grade V class at Alexandra School when he arrived with his buddy, Bob. We continued on throughout junior high at Mulvey School, and kept in touch for a short while after. My sincere condolences to Myrna and family.
