Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDENNIS ERIC SWANSON
It is with profound sadness that, due to an aggressive cancer, we announce the passing of Dennis Eric Swanson on August 24, 2024, at the age of 78, at the St. Boniface Hospital.
Born on July 6, 1946, in Saskatoon, SK, Dennis spent his later years in Winnipeg, MB, where he developed the nicknames Swanny and Gup.
Dennis will be missed and remembered by his wife Marie, his daughter Kirstin (Darcy), his granddaughter Téah and all those who knew him.
A man of principle Dennis firmly believed in the power of keeping your word and was keen on imparting this lesson to others. He was a proud family man. His two daughters and granddaughter are among his proudest accomplishments. He was well known for his large breed dogs on Bathgate Bay. He served proudly as a member of the Winnipeg City Police for 27 years. He worked in many departments and dedicated his career to the safety and well-being being of his community.
Dennis was a dedicated hockey coach for the Fort Garry Twins for almost 20 years, sharing his passion for the sport with young athletes. He cherished every moment spent in his breezeway watching Hockey Night in Canada with a cigar and rum in hand. He demanded silence in the room as Don Cherry gave his commentaries.
Dennis reveled in the serene beauty of the Caribbean beach while wearing his aviator sunglasses and a Caipirinha in hand. He also enjoyed the bustle of Las Vegas while sipping on a Heineken and playing the slots.
Dennis's absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is now with Gina, his second born, in heaven as they both watch over us all.
In keeping with Dennis's wishes there will be no funeral or memorial service. A private interment will be held.

Dear Marie and Kristin; Please accept our sincere condolences. It is with deep sadness that we learned of Dennis’ passing. Our friendship began with the Fort Garry Twins where Dennis coached our son and continued on during the many years I had the honour of looking after the giant breeds of dogs Dennis had the desire to own!! He was a man of honour and principle and will be sadly missed - we are all better for having known him. Dr. Gordon Goodridge - Posted by: Gordon Goodridge (Friend) on: Aug 31, 2024
