JOHN NELSON
John Nelson passed away peacefully on Monday, July 29, 2024, in Concordia Hospital at the age of 91.
John is survived by son Chris (Janice), grandchildren, Matt (Kylee), Tyler (Penny), and Dylan (Alexis); son Paul (Debby), grandchildren, Kassandra, Micaela (Calvin), and Hayden, and daughter Elizabeth, six great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law, Ernie and Gord, cousins, nieces and nephews.
John with his wife, Elizabeth, as Salvation Army officers, served 12 years in Canada at various times, 20 years in the Caribbean (Guyana, Panama, Barbados, Jamaica), and 12 years in South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka). After retiring in Winnipeg in 1997, John continued to serve in various positions / appointments in Winnipeg, British Columbia, and Sri Lanka, and being an active member of the Boulton Retirement Community social committee and Southlands Community Church.
A service to celebrate the life and ministry of John will be held in The Salvation Army Southlands Community Church on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 85 Keslar Road, Winnipeg, commencing at 2:30 p.m.
