Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I only met Royce a couple of times. The first time I was about 14 and he was with Alex Petchkin. Royce was bold and made an impression on me that stayed with me. I remember his laugh. My condolences to his family and friends. - Posted by: Myrna Konkin (Ross) (Friend) on: Sep 16, 2024

  • Another good guy has passed on. Thank you Royce for your great sense of humor, kindness and friendship throughout the many years. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers should have a name plate in your memory installed on the seat you faithfully occupied for an amazing 58 years! Rest easy my friend. - Posted by: Tom Carrick (Friend) on: Sep 13, 2024

  • I met Royce through my father James McClelland. When I was getting married in 1982, Royce acted as the bartender/bouncer. Needless to say, there were no problems that evening! I always enjoyed his company. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. - Posted by: Joanne L McClelland (Friend) on: Sep 08, 2024

  • I’ve known of Royce longer than he’s known me! How does that happen you ask? I hung out many years at the downtown clubs in the 80s-90s and I frequently noticed this tall, handsome snazzily dressed dude and I thought he’s really got it going on! I didn’t actually really meet him until years later, through Tom, a mutual friend. We three were all about sports and jazz. We went to Bison football games together and jazz on Saturday afternoons at The Pemby. We also went to bars to watch Blue Bombers and Jets games, except if the Big Blue were home because Royce had season tickets… for 58 years (1962-2020)! He LOVED his Bombers, knew everything about them and actually became buddies with Richard Harris, the Bombers’ late legendary D-line coach. Royce was a great friend to me and many others. I’ll miss him greatly. RIP my good buddy. Earl Skundberg. - Posted by: Earl Skundberg (Old friend ) on: Sep 06, 2024

  • I (James) have known Royce for at least 50 years. He was a good friend to me and also to my wife of 34 years. Royce and I went on many trips across the USA to watch NFL football. We moved from Winnipeg 32 years ago and whenever we went back to visit, Royce always made himself available for lunch. We have many good memories and he will be missed.
