WALTER JOHN SKAKUN
Walter was born June 7, 1937, in Dauphin, MB to John and Anna (Symchymch) Skakun. He attended Markham School in the RM of Gilbert Plains and completed high school at the Brickburn Collegiate. He then attended Commercial College in Winnipeg, MB. Following his education he was employed as an architectural draftsman in Winnipeg until retiring in 1990 when he moved to Dauphin, MB where he has since resided.
Despite suffering a service handicap due to infantile polio, Walter persevered and was able to lead a normal lifestyle. He worked for 40 some years as a draftsman. He also was a globe trotter having enjoyed many holidays in various parts of Europe. His favourite times were vacations spent in Spain with special friends.
Walter was predeceased by his parents, John and Anna, two brothers, Russell and Steve, two sisters, Elsie and Matilda in childhood.
Walter leaves to mourn his nephew Garry Skakun and niece Cathy Zikman.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. from Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin, MB.
