Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD WALTER LANG
Richard Lang of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, on July 1, 2024, leaving behind a lifetime of memories.
Left to remember him, his wife and best friend Reverly (Rev), daughter Erin (Dwayne), son Ross, daughter Allison (Kevin); brother Keith (Reina); grandchildren, Rileigh, Liam, Carson, Autumn, Abby, Atticus and Lennox, and many loving family members and lifelong friends. There will forever be a missing person at the Christmas table, birthday parties and sitting on the dock at the lake, his favourite place. Dad loved his boat and enjoyed taking his family for long boat rides around the lake.
While attending Glenlawn, he met Reverly and they became high school sweethearts. Oh the stories they shared about the backyard bbq's and bonfires. It was the beginning of a lifelong love and friendship.
After graduation from high school, Dad had several odd jobs until he joined the Winnipeg Police force in 1968. He enjoyed his career as a police officer and the many different divisions, retiring as a Sergeant in 1996. After retiring he started his most rewarding job of all. He helped all of his children by becoming the worlds best Grandpa nanny. He spent his days walking his grandkids to the park, making peanut butter sandwiches for lunch, collecting acorns in the back yard, sitting on the floor playing cars, watching school concerts and endless sport games. Our children were very lucky to spend their days with Grandpa and will have the memories to share with their own children one day.
Dad loved watching his girls play ringette and you would often find him freezing outside dressed in his leather jacket and gloves. He spent years driving us to early morning practices, endless tournaments and out of town games. He was our biggest fan. During the summer months he would take us fishing or drag the boys around the lake on the tube over the biggest Barbara waves imaginable. He gave us a life filled with endless opportunities, amazing adventures, and a lifetime of memories.
Dad will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. The sadness will eventually lessen, but the memory of his smile and laughter will fill our hearts on the days we need him most.
We would like to thank Dr. Wade Glew for his kind and compassionate care over many years. We would also like to thank the wonderful nurses at the St. Boniface Hospital. Your kind words and hugs helped us through a very tough time.
We ask that you remember Dad in your own way, as he requested no service. If you want to make a donation on his behalf, please give to the Canadian Cancer Society.
