NATHANIEL SHAER

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Nathaniel. He shall be forever remembered and his memory cherished by his mother and father (Lynda and Bob); his brothers Aaron (Mika) and Justin (Heather); and sister Jackie (Kevin). His nieces (Maddie, Izzy, Harlow) and nephews (Eli, Anders, Jack) will always have fond memories of their uncle – who, like them, was a kid at heart. His unwavering love for his family was a great source of pride for Nathaniel and his heart found solace in those relationships.

He will be remembered by those with whom he worked; the special relationships nurtured out of a mutual love and respect for one another. He enjoyed teaching and mentoring and was so fortunate to have worked with the very special group of co-workers he came to regard as his friends over the many years spent with the them. He will be especially missed by Carl and Liz (Jackson and Noah).

The relationships Nathaniel formed over the years – the fishing trips taken each year and the weekends spent together with his uncle Cam (Sunny) formed a very special and close bond between them; his life long bond with Nancy and her family (his ‘other family’); his school friends with whom ‘Hammer’ stayed in contact with over the many years - all shall forever be remembered.

Nathaniel had a keen sense of humour, a child’s spirit and a willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone who would ask endearing him to the many people he come to regard as his friends and colleagues.

For all of us who knew and cherished Nathaniel he leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be held dear in our hearts.

In accordance with Nathaniels’ wishes his family held a private ceremony.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Nathaniel may be made to his favorite charity – Sick Children’s Hospital, Toronto or a charity of your choosing.

  • I met him in high school and he always held a special spirit. I remember when he worked maintenance when I got my first apartment at Colony Square, he was always so happy to see me and always had a smile and twinkle in his eye. There’s no way I find this out by randomly googling his name. I literally been looking for him the past twenty plus years since and now I’m devastated to google his name and find this site. Gone but never forgotten, you will be missed. My sincerest condolences to his family ❤️ - Posted by: Kathleen (Friend) on: Jan 23, 2025

  • 'Hammer', as I always knew him, was friends with my brother. He was a social guy with a great sense of humor. Hammer could hold court over a conversation circle like nobody else, he was so friendly and funny. He made me feel like part of a group that I didn't really belong to, that's the warm, welcoming person he was. My sincere condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones. - Posted by: Andrew Maksymetz (Friend) on: Oct 05, 2024
