JOAN PEDLAR
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Pedlar on September 29, 2024, at the age of 89. Joan passed away peacefully at Vista Park Lodge Personal Care Home in Winnipeg with family by her side.
Predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Josephine, her sister Evelyn, her brother Gordon, and her brother-in-law Jim, "Auntie Joanie" is sadly missed by her nieces, Dana (David) and Lori (Andrew), her nephew Jim (Angela), her grandnieces, Jessica, Nicole, and Peyton, grandnephews, Ryan, Sean, and Cohen, and great-grandniece Isabella.
Joan was a long-time employee of Winnipeg's Eaton's Department Store in various positions and was saddened by its closing. She loved many things throughout her long life and notable were her love of bingo, completing crosswords and the daily Jumble in the newspaper, watching her TV shows, going to movies with her family, gardening, and the cats and dogs in her life. And she loved food! While not the best thing for her health, it gave her much enjoyment...especially the treats!
All who loved her dearly will never forget her wit, charm, generosity, and love and caring for them. But Joan will be best remembered for and most missed due to her lifelong commitment to being an incredible aunt to her nieces and nephew and then their children as they came along. Her babysitting abilities were legendary! She truly was a special person, and we are so grateful for having had her in our lives.
We would like to thank the staff at Vista Park Lodge for their care of Joan over the past five years.
Arrangements will be made for a private family service.

I have fond memories of Joan as she was the first resident to introduce herself to my Mum at VPL. My Mum asked her if she was named after the famous Oscar-winning actress “Joan Crawford”, to which Joan responded “I don’t think so, but I did watch some of her golden oldies!” This introduction became a wonderful afternoon visit with Joan and it was delightful to hear the two ladies reminiscing old movies. I also heard my mother say that the most important thing a woman a can have … next to talent, of course is… her hairdresser. Thank you Joan, for coming into my mother’s life and giving her much joy with your precious visits. - Posted by: Deb P. (Friend) on: Oct 07, 2024
