With deepest sorrow and great love, the family announces the passing of Yun Shih on October 8, 2024, in Vancouver. She was predeceased by her husband Lie Min. Yun is survived by her daughter Julie (Rob Schultz) and grandson Jesse of New Jersey; son Jun (Teri Man) and granddaughters Kelly and Andrea of Calgary, her sisters Roong and Ling and brother Pei Lee and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, USA and Taiwan.
Yun was born January 8, 1942, in Honan, China and immigrated to Canada with her husband and daughter. Yun was a hard-working woman and attended Red River Community College to better herself. She worked as a civil servant for the Manitoba Provincial Government as a Documents Examiner until her retirement. In addition to being the Matriarch in her family, where she selfless tended to the health and needs of her siblings, parent and children, among others - Yun was an active member in Winnipeg's Chinese Community where she devoted many decades of her time and energy as the president of the Chinese Cultural Community Center prior to becoming ill with the sole purpose to better the community. Yun lived life to the fullest with her many travels and enjoyed good food and music with her many friends. She will be missed by all. Per her wishes, there will be no service.
