It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, dad, grampa, brother and uncle, Paul Douglas Daniels - Wabuno Keesis, on October 24, 2024, at the age of 74 years.
Paul leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 54 years, Norma; his children, Lana, Paul Jr, and Michael, 10 grandchildren, Curtis, Joe, Justin, Mitchell, Lindsay, Erin, Emily, Chelsea, Rayna and Leia, and four great-grandchildren, Khail, Ariel, Christian and Niko, all who were very dear to him. He is also survived by brothers, Joe, Bob, James (Karen) and Frank (Chantal); sisters, Aggie, Marie and Deb, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his grandson Darrell; his parents, Lucie and Frank Daniels; his siblings, Sally, Joseph, Anne, Richard, Mark, Ernest and Fran.
Paul was a knowledge keeper, sweat lodge holder and preserver of the Ojibwe language.
To all who knew Paul personally, he was a strong and kind-hearted person. He had a passion for working with youth, and had a big heart for people who struggled in life. He was known by family and friends as a gentle bear and had a cheeky humour that those closest to him will lovingly remember. We take comfort knowing that he is no longer in pain and will be greeted by family members he missed who had joined the spirit world before him. May his spirit have a safe journey back home to the Creator.
Wake services began at the Turtle Lodge in Sagkeeng First Nation, Monday, October 28, 2024. Funeral service will be held at same location on Wednesday, October 30 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at a later date.
His family appreciates everyone's support and generosity that was shown during this difficult time.

If it’s any comfort to those left behind to mourn this big-hearted man, he was important in the health and growth of my own little family circle. My kids and grandkids now carry knowledge he passed while I was his student here in ceremony. He helped lay a foundation of spirituality into my circle. That’s what keeps us strong. Personally, it has been a painful transition knowing his wisdom has gone now. Please remember he would want us to live on in a good way. His teachings shared live on in other circles your beautiful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend has touched with Wisdom, Kindness and Caring. My tears flow with yours. I loved this man as only a great Teacher can be. NsaabeGinew Migizii Ndodem Sagkeeng Onji - Posted by: Alma Mann Scott (Student) on: Oct 30, 2024
