FRANK WILLIAM LITWIN

It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Frank Litwin at the age of 86.

Frank will be deeply missed by his wife Sandra, and children, Donna (Jay) McDonald and Douglas (Leanne) Litwin, grandchildren, Riley (Leah), Shaun, Connor, and Eric, as well as his new great-grandson Arthur.

We loved him with all our hearts and will miss him dearly. His legacy will live on in the close and loving family he helped create.

A private celebration is planned.

  • My mother Adeline Zadworny grew up in Elmwood in the 1940's and 50's and had a lot of friends from, as she put it, "the old neighborhood. I grew up with stories of all the kids and families she knew. Elmwood, like the North End, really was a little world unto itself. You had barber shops, butchers-Shackles was the most popular- chip shops, shoe stores, movie theatres (the Elm Show) you name it. You only went downtown for a treat, to go to Eatons or the Bay or one of the fancy restaurants. And Henderson HWY was called Kelvin Street! Anyway, she grew up on Riverton Ave. and she used to hang out with a Frank Litwin. I really hope this is the same one! They would play baseball together and compete in track and field. Frank also had an older brother-Sidney-that my dad used to hang around with as well They went to I believe it was Lord Selkirk school on Poplar Street. It was torn down sometime in the 1970's. Sadly, Sid died quite young 1987 or '88 of, I, think, a heart attack. I was just 18 and I remember both my mom and dad feeling really bad about that. I guess at this point I should introduce myself. I am Adeline and Bill's son NicK. My mom Adeline passed away in September '23 and my dad-Bill, in July of '16. I still look through their old yearbooks from those days from time to time. A better time, maybe...? A bit long winded, but I saw Frank's name and felt I should say a few words. Small world! All the best to Frank's family. - Posted by: Nick Shoup (Mother was a friend) on: Sep 22, 2025
