JOSE I. AGUILERA
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Jose Ignacio Aguilera (Nacho). Born October 1, 1938, in Colombia. Dad passed away on October 22, 2024, at the age of 86 after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marina Cediel Aguilera (2010), and sons, Javier Aguilera (2021) and Nachito Aguilera (1972).
In 1974, Dad made the brave decision to emigrate from Colombia to Canada, where he built a life filled with hard work, laughter, and love. He was a talented machinist and dedicated employee, retiring from CN Rail in 2005 after decades of service. Known for his quiet intelligence, he had an incredible ability to fix anything that came his way. He also loved travel, movies, soccer, dogs and his cherished "novelas".
Dad leaves behind a family who will forever miss him, his humour, his warmth, and zest for life. He is survived by his daughters, Adriana Koshowski (Daniel) and Claudia Caporuscio (Marco). He was a loving grandfather (Taita) to Tyler, Myles, Riley, Karissa, Kailey, Mitchel, Diego, Luke, and Isabella.
Over the past 12 years, our Dad experienced great joy with his devoted partner, Gloria, along with her four children and numerous grandchildren. Together, they travelled, explored, and forged unforgettable memories. Gloria was a constant source of strength, providing loving care during his illness and offering comfort in his final moments.
Our father had a reserved wit and humour that brought smiles to everyone he met, from family and friends, nurses and doctors, even in his final days. His laughter and love for life will live on in our hearts.
Dad, we love you and we'll miss you, but we know that you are reunited with Mom, Javier, and Nachito. Thank you for everything, and please watch over us.
A funeral mass will be held in his honour at St. Charles Catholic Parish, 320 St. Charles Street, Winnipeg, on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow.
Donations in his memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
