BETTY ALICE PATRICK

(née FERGUSON)

October 8, 1953 - November 2, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Alice Patrick (née Ferguson), beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend. Betty passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024, at 9:35 a.m. at Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with her devoted husband of 52 years, Robert, by her side. She was 71 years old.

Betty was born on October 8, 1953, in Russell, Manitoba, to Lillian Irene Ferguson (née Russell) and Gordon Adolph Ferguson. The fifth of their six children, Betty grew up surrounded by family and community in Angusville.

At 16, she moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she would go on to build a life filled with love, family, and success. She is remembered for her warmth, strength, and vibrant spirit, which she carried with her throughout her life. Betty bravely faced a long and difficult battle with primary progressive aphasia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Gordon, her sister Lorraine Kilimnik, and her brother-in-law Edward Kilimnik. She leaves behind her husband Robert; her children, Tyler (Mackenzie) and Natasha (Devon); her siblings, Ron (Leona), Shelley, Carol (George), and Cindy (Randy); and sisters-in-law, Marge and Deborah (Andrew). Betty's love and kindness will be cherished by her extended family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Betty was an accomplished businesswoman, owning and operating Molly Maid franchises for 32 years. Her dedication and work ethic inspired those around her, leaving a lasting impact on her community. Beyond her professional achievements, Betty embraced a life filled with many passions. She was a cherished sorority sister and an avid traveller who explored numerous Caribbean islands and took memorable trips to Europe. A devoted mother, she could often be found cheering on her children from the stands during hockey and ringette games. Her happiest days were spent at her cabin at Silver Beach, surrounded by family and friends, where she enjoyed laughter, love, kayaking, and the beauty of the lake.

As per her wishes, Betty was cremated. A celebration of her life will be held on November 23, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Maranatha Evangelical Free Church. Her ashes will be interred in a ceremony at the family plot in Russell, Manitoba, in the summer of 2025, with the date and time to be announced.

Betty's life was filled with love, family, and resilience. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

  • Betty, the world robbed us of another beautiful, fantastic and lively soul when you were stricken with your illness. You did not know it but you were one of my mentors in life. We shared times outside of sorority too. Unfortunately, my life took a turn and before I knew it, others told me how your life had changed. I am sorry for your loss Bob of your beautiful Betty. I know the kids will miss her terribly. - Posted by: Debbie Fedyck-Smithson (Sorority Friend) on: Nov 27, 2024

  • Betty was such a bright light, I was her Business Advisor when she owned her MOLLY MAID Franchise for several years and I always looked forward to our yearly visits.
